With many Bollywood films telling stories of the Hindi hinterland, they are naturally shot in these locations. Often though, producers tend to shoot in the pleasant early winter period [October to December]. That was not a luxury that the team of Mardaani 2 as they sweated it out in extreme temperatures in Kota, Rajasthan. Lead actress Rani Mukerji though has no qualms in shooting in over 40 degree celcius May is the hottest month of the Indian summer with temperatures hovering around mid 40 degrees in the desert state.
Mukerji and company have been shooting a high-octane chase sequence in Kota.
A little birdie from the sets informs, “It was a long chase sequence in this boiling heat and we wanted to wrap this shot in one take. Rani is known to nail most scenes in one take and she did the same on this occasion too but since it was a chase sequence, she insisted that we shoot it a couple of times so that we have variations of the shot,”
It was hot and we could see she was getting dehydrated but she nailed each take. The entire crew got really motivated seeing her level of commitment. The shooting team is not used to this heat and Rani’s commitment really got the entire team going,” added the source.
Produced by Yash Raj Films, Mardaani 2 is helmed by Gopi Puthran, who also wrote Mardaani (2014). The first film was based on child trafficking with Tahir Raj Bhasin playing the villain.
