Two days ago, Motichoor Chaknachoor was staring down the barrel after a Civil Court in Saran [Chapra], Bihar passed a stay order on the release of the film. The court had set 25 November as the next date of hearing but in a dramatic turn of events, Motichoor Chaknachoor has managed to get the stay order vacated and the film will release as per schedule.
Efforts to reach out to producers Rajesh and Kiran Bhatia didn’t yield any response. A reliable source closely associated with the matter informs, “I am yet to receive the order, but it is true that the stay order has been vacated. The producers and the studio sprung into action to save their film. They got a team of some 12-13 lawyers who succeeded in getting the stay order vacated. I believe, there were some external pressure too. The relief was granted not in an open court, but it was passed in the chamber. Once we have the order, only then we can know the reason behind this reversal. The same judge who had earlier passed the stay order, now vacated his earlier order. The case isn’t closed as yet, but the court merely vacated the stay order.”
A trade source and a source closely associated with the film confirmed that Motichoor Chaknachoor will be releasing as per schedule. “Early, in the day we came to know that the producers had won the case. The film will release tomorrow,” said a trade source.
The tickets for the film are now available on movie ticketing booking portal Bookmyshow.com.
Bihar-based local distributor Gouri Shankar Agarwal had moved court claiming distribution rights for the local region. As reported by IndiaTVnews.com earlier, Agarwal has claimed to have entered into a distribution agreement with the director Debamitra Biswal.
Producer Rajesh Bhatia had pinned the blame on Biswal. The director’s counsel Kunal Tiwari had slammed Bhatia for making defamatory statements against his client.
Motichoor Chaknachoor has had its more than a share of controversy. With the biggest hurdle cleared, lead actors Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Athiya Shetty would hope that none of these controversies affect its box office prospects.
Directed by Debamitra Biswal, Motichoor Chaknachoor is produced by Woodpecker Movies and Viacom18 Motion Pictures.
