Human beings have different facets to them. It is very easy to judge people on their exterior image, conduct but deep within, most human beings have an emotional side to them. Rangoli Chandel, often known for her vitriolic tweets against her sister Kangana Ranaut’s contemporaries, legacy studio owners and even journalists, showed her compassionate side when she praised the trailer of the Deepika Padukone-starrer Chhapaak [2020].
The Fox Star Studios produced film is inspired by the story of acid attack survivor and social activist Laxmi Agarwal. It must be recalled that Chandel herself was one such victim. So, it is all but natural for her to be moved by the Chhapaak trailer.
Touched by the trailer, Chandel wished for the film to be a success.
“Meghna and Deepika will earn a lot of tears from this film, what my family and I went through along with the prejudice we faced was worse than death… story of an acid attack survivor needs to reach this nation, praying that it works,” tweeted Chandel.
While she didn’t tag Padukone, Gulzar or hash tagged the film, but these positive words from Chandel has been welcome by netizens. One of them even wished for Rangoli Chandel’s story to be made one day.
“We would love to see your story someday ❤️ May be my #Favorite #Indian #actress #KanganaRanaut will do the honour and justice, someday. All the best @deepikapadukone and @meghnagulzar #women power #tears are #Blessings , my feeling as a woman. Raise women with praise,” tweeted one Rashmi Sachdeva.
In the past, Chandel has been critical of Padukone. Early in July, Chandel had hit out at Padukone, alleging that the Chhapaak actress had used her depression to gain publicity.
However, it is nice to see Chandel moving from the past and appreciating an upcoming film that addresses the larger cause. Here’s hoping that in future Chandel shows similar respect to Alia Bhatt, Taapsee Pannu and may be even Karan Johar one day.
Chhapaak is set to be released on 10 January, 2020.
