While he has no political allegiance per se, but Akshay Kumar is an admirer of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The actor has often spoken in the interests of Indian jawans, on the issue of women safety, and the nation as a whole. His bonhomie with Modi has also earned him brickbats too. Early, today, the actor ‘liked’ a Tweet that showed the video of attack on students of Jamia Milia university in Delhi.

The nation is currently facing protests in certain parts of the country over the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill.

One netizen posted a grab of Kumar liking a video that shows an attack on protesting students of Jamia Milia. The netizen took it as a sign of Kumar mocking the attack on the students.

“For people requesting Bollywood stars for raising their voice against police brutality on Jamia students. Here is our Hero @akshaykumar who “likes” a tweet mocking brutal attack on Jamia Milia students. He has now unliked it. #JamiaProtest, tweed one Mohammed Zubair.

Not wanting any needless controversy, the actor then soon posted a Tweet clarifying that he accidentally pressed ‘like’ on the video and he would never support such acts.

“Regarding the ‘like’ on the tweet of Jamia Milia students, it was by mistake. I was scrolling and accidentally it must have been pressed and when I realised I immediately unliked it as In no way do I support such acts.,” tweeted Kumar.

Since the actor hasn’t really clarified his ‘such acts’ , it would be premature to say whether he mocked the agitating students, or whether the Good Newwz [2019] actor meant to condemn any sort of violence.

However, it didn’t take long for the actor to be trolled. As we write, #BoycottCanadianKumar is trending on Twitter.

Kumar has been criticised for holding a Canadian passport. A week ago, Kumar said at the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit that he has applied for Indian passport.
