Box office: Love Aaj Kal bags Rs12 crore nett on opening day

While the film has received mixed reviews, but it has been helped by Valentine’s Day and the presence of a popular cast in Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan

Kartik Aaryan’s popularity can be gauged from the fact that he’s delivered three successive hits, with one of the them – Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety [2018] bagging over Rs100 crore nett in domestic business. Aaryan’s latest release Love Aaj Kal [2020] is off to a good start bagging Rs12 crore nett on its opening day., as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com The producer figure is Rs12.40 crore nett.

Love Aaj Kal [2020] has bagged the biggest opening for a Kartik Aaryan film. And the actor didn’t shy from expressing his joy and gratitude.

“Aapke ladke ki ab tak ki biggest opener. Thank you for all the love #LoveAajKal .,” tweeted Aaryan.

The film has got mixed reviews but the good opening can be attributed to the popularity of Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan and the fact that it released on Valentine’s Day.

Made at an estimated budget of Rs65 crore, the film is also the widest release for any Kartik Aarya film. As per sources, Love Aaj Kal [2020] is released in about 3000 plus screen in India. Aaryan’s last release Pati Patni Aur Woh [2019] crossed Rs80 crore nett and the actor would need Love Aaj Kal to go much higher. Director Imtiaz Ali, too, would hope that Love Aaj Kal can end his long dry run. In fact, the first Love Aaj Kal [2009] was his last hit.

Love Aaj Kal [2020] is co-produced by Maddock Films, Jio Studios, Window Seat Films, and Reliance Entertainment. The film is distributed by Pen India Ltd.
