Good friend Shekhar Kapur blames certain PEOPLE for Rajput’s death; Sonakshi Sinha takes indirect dig at Kangana Ranaut for exploiting Rajput’s death

The film industry is united. Well, that is a joke. It has taken a tragedy to remind us how the industry is divided into camps. There’s no clique war here but in the aftermath of Sushant Singh Rajput’s (34) suicide, feisty actress Kangana Ranaut has one again triggered the the nepotism debate. In fact, Ranaut didn’t hesitate in calling Rajput’s suicide a planned murder.
Without naming any one, Ranaut’s took jibes at those who encourage nepotism and underlined the struggles faced by outsiders like Rajput and her.
“Sushant Singh Rajput’s death has shattered us. But some people are expert in running a parallel narrative against people who are not mentally tough. A person who is a rank holder in engineering entrance exams, how can he be mentally fragile? He is literally begging people to watch his films. He fears he will be thrown out from the industry because he has no godfather,” Ranaut said in the video
The Panga actress adds, “He made it clear in his interviews, that why is this industry not accepting him? I feel like a leftover. He got no acknowledgment for his debut film Kai Po Che! , Kedarnath , Chhichhore … A poor film like Gully Boy gets all awards, but Chhichhore gets no acknowledgment. We don’t want anything from you, but when we do our own films, you still don’t want to acknowledge us. “
Ranaut also alleged that certain journalists write fake news to defame actors like Rajput.
“They have their sycophants journalists, who post blind items writing stuff like Sushant is psychotic, neurotic, addict, but you find Sanjay Dutt’s addiction very cute. I get messages from them [journalists] that you are going through a difficult time please don’t take any drastic step, ” Kangana says, ” Why do they want to implant in your head the idea of suicide. So, this was no suicide, but a planned murder. Sushant’s only mistake was that he believed these people. He accepted that he was worthless. He didn’t remember what his mother told him. They wanted to paint him as a mentally weak person. They will not write the truth.”
It’s no secret that Ranaut is targeting the legacy studios. In his Instagram post, producer Karan Johar had expressed his disappointment at not reaching out to Rajput, who he found to be lonely.
Veteran filmmaker Shekhar Kapur had signed Rajput for Paani but the project failed to take off Kapur shared a close bond with Rajput. He was perhaps a mentor-like figure to him. The filmmaker posted a cryptic tweet indirectly blaming certain people for driving Rajput to commit suicide.
“I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish I was around the last 6 months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours.,” tweeted Kapur,
It is mere speculation as to who is Kapur targetting. There is a Whats App forward talking about how a marquee studio allegedly ruined Rajput’s career. It must be recalled that after his debut, Rajput had signed an exclusive contract with a marquee production house. The production house is famous for signing exclusive 3-5 year/film contract with young talents.
According to grapevine, a modern great filmmaker, known for making few epic films, was keen on having Rajput for a tragic romantic film. The filmmaker had approached the marquee production house, but they refused to let Rajput go, but in stead recommended their other rising young talent for that film. Apparently, Rajput is rumoured to have been chosen for a 2016 romantic dud, which also went to the other popular star. Rajput had Shekhar Kapur’s Paani, but as widely buzzed, the same marquee production house backed out of Paani citing commercial constraints. Rajput though did do couple of films for the same production house – one fared decently, while the other failed. The Whats App forward also spoke about Rajput perhaps being ignored by the legacy studios, and he wasn’t being sent invites for social gatherings, parties.
One cannot vouch for the rumoured politics behind this, but few industry insiders did acknowledge that Rajput lost few projects to another talent, who is now a reigning superstar of Bollywood.
Conspiracy theories, nepotism will galore. Actress Sonakshi Sinha, who is daughter of legendary actor Shatrughan Sinha, has taken an indirect jibe at Rananut for trying to exploit Rajput’s death for publicity.
Sinha came down hard on such people referring to them as pigs.
“The problem with wrestling with pigs is that you get dirty and the pig enjoys it. To certain people trying to garner publicity and highlight their issues using the death of a member of our fraternity. PLEASE just stop. Your spewing negativity, hate, and toxicity is really not required now. Have some respect for the departed soul.” tweeted Sinha.
Squabbling artistes need to be overlooked but if there is any semblance of truth to stories of alleged injustice against Rajput then his family, friends and fans deserve the right to know.
