The legendary actor, best known for his comedy roles, passed away at the age of 81. Film fraternity pays rich tribute to the veteran

Veteran actor and comedian Jagdeep passed away on Wednesday [8 July] at his Bandra, Mumbai residence. He was 81. A veteran of close to four hundred films, Syed Ishtiaq Jafri, better known by his stage name Jagdeep, was counted among the finest comedians in Hindi film industry, popularly known as Bollywood.
Tributes poured in from fans and members of the fraternity who expressed deep sorrow at the passing away of the legend.
Super star Ajay Devgn was one among the first to pay condolences to the family.
“Heard the sad news of Jagdeep Saab’s demise. Always enjoyed watching him on screen. He brought so much joy to the audience. My deepest condolences to Jaaved and all members of the family. Prayers for Jagdeep Saab’s soul,” tweeted Devgn.
Acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee thanked the legend for lighting up his childhood.
“Rest in peace Jagdeep sahab !Thank you for all the memories that I have watching your films and performances in my childhood!! You will be missed by us all!! Condolences to the family!,” tweeted Bajpayee.
Seasoned actor Anupam Kher posted an early picture of Jagdeep and also recalled a memorable conversation with the late actor.

.Actor Arshad Warsi, himself known for his comic timing, said that the legend was a reference point for his film Ishqiya .
“Really sad to hear about Jagdeep sahab. What a phenomenal actor & a wonderful person. He has entertained my generation all through our growing years. He was also my reference point for Ishqiya. Thank you Jagdeep sahab… Allah aapko Jannat Naseeb farmaye -RIP,” tweeted Warsi.
The veteran actor and his films left an indelible mark on actor and television super star Kiku Sharda.
“Rest in Peace Jagdeep sir. I have performed/enacted so many of your film scenes on the stage of school functions. You will be missed. My condolences to @NavedJafri_BOO @jaavedjaaferi and the entire family,”
90s stars Madhuri Dixit-Nene , Johnny Lever, too, offered their condolences.
“Jagdeep sahab was an actor par excellence & his on-screen presence is unmatched. He was a gentle soul and he told us lovely stories of the black & white era. Thank you for the decades of laughter & entertainment. My heartfelt condolences to Jaaved & your family,” tweeted Dixit.
“My first film & the first time I ever faced the camera was in the film #yehrishtanatoote with the legend himself #Jagdeep bhai. We will miss you…May his soul rest in peace 🙏🏽 Our prayers & deepest condolences to the family.,” Lever posted on his official facebook page.
