girls by Promoter of IMG Ventures, Mr Sunny Verma and his accomplice. Despite directing to appear before the Commission and intimating the same through all possible modes of communication, these people have neither bothered to respond nor attended the scheduled meeting.”
The notice was sent after taking cognizance of a complaint filed by women’s activist Yogita Bhayana, who had received complains of alleged sexual abuse by one event management company IMG Ventures promoter Sunny Verma. Bhayana is the founder of the social organisation PARI [People Against Rapes in India]
On 15 July, Bhayana had posted a a couple of videos wherein we can hear some celebrities endorsing the entertainment company, whose promoter Verma has been accused of sexual abuse. Bhayana posted details regarding the same in Hindi.
” Though reluctant, I feel sad to say that how star names from Bollywood promote such dubious company. Please watch yourself. I appeal to NCW India and [Chairperson] Rekha Sharma to investigate this. I will submit all reports and facts – Part 1,” tweeted Bhayana.
In the first video, Bhayana has disclosed the alleged indecent proposal made by Verma to an aspiring model. The first video also contains soundbites by the likes of Urvashi Rautela, Mouni Roy, Rannvijay Singha, and even Sonu Sood.
“If this [exploitation continued, then one of our own will become a victim. I have seen such gory facts that I can’t disclose it on social media,” tweeted Bhayana.
In the second tweet, Bhayana has posted a video wherein she has shared details of alleged lewd proposal by Sunny Verma. Bhayana has alleged that this person is perhaps duping innocent girls by showing them pictures of him with celebrities.
In her letter addressed to NCW dated 20 July, Bhayana has shed light on the alleged modus operandi of Verma.
“Through his company he invites the girls on the pretext of organising a Miss Asia Contest with a claim that the contest will launch them as models. To make it look genuine, his company has also been taking an entry fee of Rs2950. Once the girls apply, they are alluded by the female accomplices of Sunny Verma to submit their nude pictures in order to get the better ranking in the contest. After receiving the nude pictures and sometimes even before, Sunny used to get in touch with the girls to push them for completely nude pictures and videos. He also used to allude as well threaten them to submit to his sexual desires if they were interested in modelling as a career or wish to win the contest. Once he establishes physical relationship with the girls, he used to blackmail them for regular sexual favours.,” Bhayana wrote in her letter.
