Actor, producer Prabhleen Kaur has now acquired the rights to the book The Vijay Mallya Story [2014] by author K Giriprakash. It is said that a prominent Bollywood actor has agreed to play the titular role. Though not confirmed, but the book is likely to be adapted into a web series. Kaur’s Almighty Motion Picture is co-producing it in association with PZ Pictures.
The book covers the journey of Mallya, his rise as a successful businessman to then his meteoric fall from grace. Mallya inherited his father’s business most notably United Breweries that produces the popular beer brand Kingfisher. Mallya had later ventured into aviation forming the now defunct Kingfisher Airlines. He also owned an Indian Premier League team Royal Challengers Bangalore and the former Formula 1 racing team Force India.
The controversial businessman, who was known more for his flamboyance than business acumen, is a wanted man in India for alleged money laundering and fraud charges. Before he could be arrested, Mallya had fled to London a few years ago.
