Akshay Kumar who had previously made a few generous contributions has once again extended a helping hand for the people affected in the Assam floods by contributing Rs1 crore to the state’s Relief Fund

Super star Akshay Kumar hasn’t taken a back seat in extending his support or coming forward for the aid of the needy. The actor has recently donated Rs1 crore to Assam Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in order to help the people who were affected by the recent floods in the North Eastern state.
Assam’s Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, on Tuesday (18 August,2020) took to his Twitter handle to thank the ‘Good Newwz’ (2019) actor for the same. He wrote, “Thank you @akshaykumar ji for your kind contribution of ₹1 crore towards Assam flood relief. You have always shown sympathy and support during periods of crisis. As a true friend of Assam, may God shower all blessings to you to carry your glory in the global arena.”
This isn’t the first time the actor has contributed to noble causes. Kumar had previously donated Rs25 crore to the PM’s relief fund for Covid-19, an additional Rs2 crore to the Mumbai Police Foundation, and Rs3 crore to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) to assist in the making of personal protection equipment, masks, and rapid testing kits to help in the battle against the novel Coronavirus. Last year in March the actor had donated Rs1 crore to CM Relief Fund for the assistance of the victims of Cyclone Fani in Odisha and help them rebuild their lives and later in October, he pledged Rs1 crore to rehabilitate 25 families struggling with the Bihar floods.
The actor is currently in the UK shooting for the thriller drama ‘Bell Bottom’ which is scheduled to release in 2021. He is accompanied by wife Twinkle Khanna and children Aarav and Nitara.
