Actor Rhea Chakraborty is a prime accused in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case, as alleged in the FIR filed on 25 July by Rajput’s father K.K Singh. The Enforcement Directorate of Mumbai has been investigating any possible money laundering angle in the alleged misuse of Rajput’s funds.
Buzz has it that the ED hasn’t found any substantial transfers made to Rhea Chakraborty or her family from Sushant’s accounts. As reported by Mumbai Mirror, the ED has confirmed that a sum of Rs15 crore was withdrawn from one of Rajput’s Bank accounts. According to an ED source, the agency will try to ascertain that who besides Sushant was using his debit cards, internet banking, credit cards and other financial transactions. Mumbai Mirror quoted an ED source as saying, “We are mapping the transactions to ascertain the movement of money from Sushant’s account to other accounts and for what purpose,”
The agency further stated that it will be collecting all the banking transaction details to study the mode of payments done via the Dil Bechara (2020) actor’s bank account. The source also pointed out that out of Rs15 crore, approximately Rs 2.7 crore was paid as taxes by the late actor. Another ED source related to the probe has pointed out that Rajput and Chakraborty, who were in a relationship, spent on each other but there hasn’t been any big transaction.
The ED has so far interrogated Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik Chakraborty, father Indrajit Chakraborty, Rajput’s former manager Shruti Modi, house manager Samuel Miranda, room-mate Siddharth Pithani, the actor’s talent manager and his Chartered Accountants. The ED is also scrutinising how Rhea and her brother Showik came together and formed companies with Sushant as a result of which Rhea is a director in Vividrage Rhealityx while Showik is a director in Front India for World Foundation along with Sushant.
Lawyer Satish Maneshinde, who is representing Chakraborty in the case, has denied all allegations against the ‘Jalebi’ (2018) actress and pointed out that she has been probed by two investigative agencies so far and that there has been “nothing found against her”.
