Kangana Ranaut, Jassie Gill, & co travelled all the way to MIT – World Peace University in Pune, Maharasthra on Tuesday (7 January) to launch the title track of Panga [2020]. Ranaut was flanked by music composers, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and the title track singers Harsdheep Kaur, Divya Kumar and Siddharth Mahadevan.

The over two hours one-way travel was worth it as Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy have scored an inspirational and entertaining track.

The song simply plays out to visuals from the trailer.  The beauty of the track is the vibrant desi tunes that are reinvigorating and also groovy in nature.

Penned by Javed Akhtar, the song underlines the film’s theme aptly where a mother Jaya Nigam [Ranaut] is trying to make a comeback in her professional career as a kabaddi player.   There are many external, social barriers to overcome and Akhtar promptly brings that out in the bridge.

Le Panga [take on a fight] is a term that is synonymous with the Pro Kabaddi League.  And it fits perfectly with the film’s theme and title.

Harshdeep Kaur, Divya Kumar and Siddharth Mahadevan are fairly efficient in their singing.  Harshdeep has a lone verse in the track with her male counterparts having a more prominent presence in the song.

It really is the music that is the highlight of the Panga title track. The repeated singing of the ‘Le Panga’ words will spring memories of the Le Le Mazaa Le track from Salman Khan’s Wanted [2009], but the two are entirely different compositions.
