Will it ? Won’t it? There is no official confirmation yet as to whether the Akshay Kumar-starrer Laxmmi Bomb [2020] will go for a straight web release. Such rumours have resurfaced again and this time, there is speculation around the amount at which co-producers Akshay Kumar, Tusshar Kapoor and Shabina Khan have sold their film to producer/distributor Fox Star Studios.

A reliable source informs, “Earlier, the combined deal for satellite, digital, music rights was around Rs145 crore. However, with the Covid-19 pandemic and the uncertainty around the reopening of theaters, Akshay Kumar, Shabina Khan and Tusshar Kapoor struck a new one time deal with Fox Star Studios for Rs162 crore and opted for a straight web release. This new deal includes satellite and digital rights but not music.”

A release date is not yet set, but it won’t be long before an official announcement is made regarding Laxmmi Bomb [2020] premiering on Disney Hotstar – Star India’s Over-the-top platform, while the satellite telecast will happen at a later date on Star Gold.

Such information is always confidential and no producer or studio speaks publicly about these deals. We did try to reach out to Tusshar Kapoor and Shabina Khan but to no avail.

Directed by Raghava Lawrence, Laxmmi Bomb is the Hindi remake of the 2011 Tamil film Muni 2: Kanchana, that was helmed by Lawrence. The south film-maker also played the lead in the Tamil film. The story revolves around an ordinary man being possessed by the ghost of a transgender. For the Hindi remake, Kumar is joined by Kiara Advani, Tusshar Kapoor in the leading cast.
