Indians just love their culture, especially the desi dancing.  No matter where they live, Indians often breaks into their free style desi dance moves at any occasion. It’s only normal for Indians to do so, but Indians cheer all the more when they get a firangi [foreigner]to break into the desi dance moves.  French-Argentine actress Berenice Bejo got a taste of the desi Bollywood freestyle dancing in the Madaari song from The Extraordinary Journey of The Fakir (2019).

Bejo, best known to Indian audience for her role as Peppy Miller in the Academy Award winning film The Artist (2011), looks more than comfortable at pulling off some crazy desi dance moves.

Ajatashatru Lavash Patel [Dhanush] is denied entry at particular enclosure in a Parisian club.  At that moment Dhanush breaks into desi dancing, reminding the bouncer and all that he is a magician. The fun lyrics are a reminder of the magical powers of this fakir.

Penned by Anvita Dutt,  Madaari is fun  filled track that rides more on its visuals and the peppy score by Amit Trivedi. Dhanush is not the most gifted dancer but he thoroughly enjoys himself in the Madaari track, rolling, swiveling to and fro

It’s Bejo though who wins over the desi audience with her desi moves.

The music has a great vibe to it, a foot tapping number indeed. The melody in the antara though is reminiscent of the Tenu Leke Main Javanga song from Salaam -E-Ishq [2007]. If one listens carefully, the Madaari song evokes the same vibe as that of the Sonu Nigam track.  They are both enjoyable tracks though.

Vishal Dadlani doesn’t have a great tone but like the madaari [magician] Patel, he casts a spell on you. Nikhita Gandhi impresses in the lit bit that we hear from in the music video.

Madaari may not be a chartbuster, but it’s enough to get you break into desi dancing.

Watch the Madaari song below.

The Extraordinary Journey Of The Fakir is set to be released on 21 June.
